Marvin J. Steele, Founder, Catchlight Strategies

Marvin is a dynamic and well-respected leader with over 15 years of experience in government relations, public policy, campaign strategy, and public affairs. Before starting CatchLight, Marvin helped build and launch, WinPoint, an innovative data analytics advocacy platform, he served as the Vice-President of Sales and Customer Success. He has worked in the U.S Congress, in the non-profit sector, and on political campaigns.


Marvin has led government engagement at organizations including the American Red Cross where he recently served as the Director of Government Relations. At the Red Cross, Marvin was responsible for managing legislative initiatives, public policy, and engagement with U.S. Congress and the Executive Branch.


Before joining the American Red Cross, Marvin provided legislative and strategic counsel in the U.S. Congress for six years as a legislative aide to Congressman Lacy Clay of Missouri and on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. During his tenure on Capitol Hill, he was a leader in promoting bi-cameral and bi-partisanship among Congressional delegations, working on several initiatives with both Democratic and Republican leaders in the US House and US Senate. Marvin is a veteran of several political campaigns highlighted by his service as Political Director for a "nationalized" U.S. Senate campaign in Missouri.


Marvin is most proud of the two outstanding women in his life. His partner Kate Chapek is a well-known political strategist whose career achievements include serving as the National Women’s Vote Director for President Barack Obama 2012 and his uber precocious 9-year-old daughter Sinatra, an avid Legos builder and the self-proclaimed next Kate McKinnon and Tiffany Haddish.
